BUAD 1001 Coffee Shop Project

During my freshman year business class, we were randomly assigned into teams to make decisions for a simulated coffee shop. This simulation was designed to help give a basic understanding on business decisions such as marketing spend, business hours, and pricing. We competed against other businesses (teams in our class) across the span of the semester to be the best coffee shop in the market. After finishing the simulation, we analyzed the decisions made and determined what could be done differently if we started over from scratch. One of the most challenging aspects of this project was making decisions for an industry that I did not have much experience in. Ultimately, our team ended up in the bottom half of the industry, but I believe you learn more from mistakes than successes. However, this was overall a fantastic learning experience that taught me how to work better in a group setting and better analyze decisions that were made with a well thought out rationale.
